Models and Essays

When working with Models and Essays, students have been cited to state that models are "easier” to construct than essays. They have also mentioned that models help them “organize” or “visualize” their thinking, and “set up” their essays. This prompted us to assess the extent of equivalence between models and essays. We are currently developing a rubric that will be used to evaluate the qualities of parsed out elements from student-constructed assessments.
